An immersive listening experience

Unknown 9: Awakening is the story of Haroona’s journey from pupil to hero and the allies and enemies she makes along the way. To bring this experience to life, the music needed to embody the ancient, mystical settings she explores across Asia, Europe, and Africa. Other sources of inspiration included the poignancy and depth of the narrative, the incredible Sahin architecture designed by our level artists, and the multilayered, oscillating alternate dimension called the Fold.

The original soundtrack weaves a tapestry of Haroona’s journey, and the diverse landscapes players can experience alongside her. We hope you enjoy this immersive auditory experience meant to lead you straight into the heart of the unique and extraordinary world of Unknown 9: Awakening.

In developing the core score sound for the game, the ethereal, invisible, yet powerful sound and resonance of air, wind, and voice fit this mysterious world perfectly.

Regionally and ethnically based instruments were sourced for their sounds, then manipulated to create entirely new and unconventional sounds unique to our game. With this, traditional rhythms on various percussion sets were studied, then modernized to develop new and wild compositions, supporting the ever-shifting nature of Haroona’s world.

These techniques allowed great range to enhance every moment, from the epic to the cat and mouse, from the nostalgic to the momentous Sahin and Fold encounters.
